Abstract

The title compound is a soluble precursor (“latent pigment”) of diketopyrrolopyrrole pigment (DPP) that can be used for electronic and imaging applications. Two crystal forms (α & β) are known to exist in powders. Therefore, an attempt has been made in the present investigation to carry out full structure analysis on single crystals of both modifications. In the α-form, there are two independent molecules (A & B) characterized by C1 and Ci symmetriesrespectively, and the space group P21/n. The molecules are stacked in the sequence of –A-A-B-A-A-B- … in a fashion “herringbone”. On the other hand, the β-form crystallizes in the space group of P21/C and the molecule belongs to C1 symmetry. The molecules are stacked along the α-axis relative to each other in a parallel arrangement.
