Abstract

Digital archiving and preservation is the set of processes to conserve digital data and ensure its accessibility for the long term. As digital objects are stored in some binary format, the above processes involve the ability to interpret the binary format and transform it to a form understandable by humans.ARCHIVATOR industrial consortium was set up in mid-2009 with the aim of developing a reliable, secure, cost-effective long-term digital archive solution using photosensitive polyester, a very stable material that remains unchanged for a period of centuries in optimal conservation conditions.
