Preservation in a Digital Age

Abstract

As the world of information and records move into the digital and virtual domain, the nature of archiving fundamentally changes. The many issues that archivists have confronted in the past remain real and pressing issues, but options for solutions have changed. And there are some new challenges on the horizon of the digital world.The nature of records and information preservation in a digital world, whether born digital or digital facsimile, presents some specific challenges. Starting with issues such as migration, data quality management, process management, facilities for digital presentation, sovereignty, and authentication, the presentation will outline the issue and lead toward specific implementation practices for each issue.
