This article attempts to present the methodology used to respond to questions and issues raised by the adoption of JPEG2000 format at the National Library of France for mass digitization. It attempts to describe particularly the methodology used to define a compression ratio for heritage digitization. Finally, it presents lessons learned after two years of mass production.
