      <abstract>
        <p>The ICC members have determined that they want a single, consistent, well-defined model for color management. This paper first examines some of the issues that such a model addresses. It then discusses problems with the ICC specification that make it impossible to address these issues
 and the changes needed to solve those problems. Only by the adoption of these changes can the ICC meet our users' desire for &#x201C;plug and play&#x201D; color.</p>
