        <p>A team of research scientists from academia and industry has been applying digital image processing techniques for the enhancement of degraded ancient textual documents including Dead Sea Scrolls and burned papyrus scrolls from Petra, Jordan. The team consists of scholars from the Rochester
 Institute of Technology, the University of Rochester and the Xerox Digital Imaging Technology Center, Webster, New York. Using remote sensing, network transmission, digital enhancement, color manipulation and current storage and output technology, the investigators are working to provide maximum
 image information for the accurate translation of the degraded documents.</p>
